Today Severstal hosts a joint meeting of the Executive Committee of the Central Council of Russia Sports Society of Trade Unions, as well as the Executive Committee of the Mining and Steel Industry Trade Union of the Russian Federation and the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Trade Union of employees in the fields of sports and tourism. The meeting followed up the decision of the State Council of the RF, which discussed the issue of increasing involvement of Russian citizens in sports and physical exercise. This Council was chaired by Russian President Vladimir Putin on January 15, 2002. The meeting in Cherepovets is held upon the decision of the State Council of the Central Committee of the Sports Society of Trade Unions. The meeting in Cherepovets aims at studying the Severstal experience in involving company employees and their family members in sport activities. Nikolai Pyatunin, deputy director of social infrastructure division of Severstal, Nikolai Lukin, Chairman of the Severstal sports club, and Igor Ghuravlev, the trade union leader, will present reports. Additionally 13 representatives of shops, most active in sports activities, will give brief speeches. The meeting participants included chairmen of the central and a number of regional councils of the Russia sports society, including the one in Vologda region and the Central Committee of trade unions of sports employees. They will meet with Georgy Shevtsov, Severstal's social affairs director, and Mikhail Stavrovsky, Cherepovets mayor. During the three day program, the meeting participants will tour Severstal's sports and social facilities.
