During his visit to Japan Rosseti CEO Oleg Budargin held talks with Shigeki Miwa, General Manager of CEO Project Office, SoftBank Group Corp. (“SoftBank”) on possible steps on the path to boosting cooperation in electricity sphere between Russia and Japan.
At the meeting the parties once again expressed the intension to continue consultations to come to practical realization of the previously signed by the Russian, Japanese, Chinese and Korean companies (including Rosseti and SoftBank) MoU on the Asian Super Ring establishing.
Oleg Budargin mentioned that the Mongolian government with the representatives of which he had met several times in May and June showed its interest in joining the project.
Another issue of the agenda was the construction of high voltage transmission line from the Russian Far East, which might bring additional volumes of electricity to Japan and serve power reserve for both sides. Rosseti stated that the company was interested in joint project feasibility studies.
Oleg Budargin and Shigeki Miwa also discussed the implementation of Smart Metering in Russia based on a unique chip for the metering equipment, which should become a complex solution for information exchange between power companies and the consumers to assist the latest to make their electricity consumption more effective.
Rosseti and SoftBank also discussed their participation in the Eastern Economic Forum to be hold on September 6-7, 2017, in the Russian city of Vladivostok.
