A year ago a new brand, UTair Aviation JSC, appeared on the world aircraft market.
On May 30, 2002, a general annual shareholders’ meeting of Tyumenaviatrans Airlines JSC adopted a new name for the company – UTair. According to the decision, the new name came into force on October 1, 2002.
Estimating the results of the rebranding, General Director of the airlines Andrey Martirosov pointed out that after the renaming, UTair had got a new impulse for development.
“No Russian company has ever dared to do this before us though there are similar examples in world practice. Remember the American airlines US Airways and the Korean corporation LG. After renaming they all got a serious impulse for development and captured leading positions on the world market,” Mr. Martirosov stressed.
To date, the company is among the four strongest players on the aircraft transportation services market in Russia and enjoys a leading position in the world rating of helicopter giants.
In 2002 UTair Aviation won the first award and the honor of being called the Airlines of the Year in the nomination “Servicing Russian Industries” of the Russian aircraft award “The Wings of Russia”.
