Today the town of Ostashkov (Tver Oblast) hosted a solemn ceremony dedicated to the startup operation of an inter-settlement gas pipeline connecting the Zekhnovo automated gas distribution station (AGDS) and the town of Ostashkov.

The ceremony was attended by Valery Golubev, Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, Dmitry Zelenin, Governor of the Tver Oblast, representatives of Gazprom trasgaz Saint Petersburg, Tverregiongaz, the regional authorities and municipal entities.

The Tver Oblast gasification program execution (in context of which the Zekhnovo AGDS – Ostashkov gas pipeline was commissioned) will help to improve the living standards of the population and supply it with economical and ecological fuel.

Background:

The total length of the gas pipeline is 16.7 km, the full capacity – 225 mcm per year.

An Agreement of Cooperation between Gazprom and the Tver Oblast was signed in January 2002 and has no expiry date. In December 2004 the Accord on Gasification was signed within the scope of the Agreement.

The Tver Oblast is currently gasified by 53.6 per cent including 71.2 per cent in cities & towns and 18.8 per cent in rural area. These rates throughout Russia average 62, 67 and 44 per cent respectively.

In accordance with the Gasification Program for Russian Federation Constituents, in 2007 Gazprom committed RUB 800 mln for the Tver Oblast gasification.

In 2008 Gazprom plans to commit RUB 767 mln for the regional gasification. The financial resources will be spent to complete the construction of gasification facilities.
