Rostelecom, Russia’s national long-distance telecommunications operator, is participating in the 6th International Conference «Contemporary condition and perspectives for development of the Internet in Russia» (September 13-15, 2005; Vatutinki, Moscow region). The Conference, organized by Russian Association for Networks and Services (RANS), focuses on technological, infrastructure, legal and other aspects of Russia’s infocommunications sector development. The agenda includes discussions on the issues critical for all trunk IP networks operators, such as technological readiness of networks for transmission of growing traffic volumes as well as provision of new services, which are in rising market demand. The Conference attendees will also explore the trends of the Internet development in Russia (in light of preparation for the second phase of the World Summit on the Information Society /WSIS/), some current projects and further work prospects. In the framework of the Conference there will be held an exhibition to demonstrate latest achievements in design and usage of IP-communications and IP-services for enhancing efficiency, security and quality of telecom services. This year Conference hosts over 200 attendees representing the largest telecommunications companies, companies-manufactures of telecom equipment as well as governmental authorities.
