The Baltika Brewery company was formed in 1990 and is today the largest producer of beer in Russia and Eastern Europe. The company now counts among its facilities the five largest breweries located in a number of different Russian cities. They produce 39 different types of beer. Baltika accounts for 22% of the country’s beer market.
The annual survey of the ‘Most Admired Companies in the World’ carried out by the Financial Times and the auditing firm PriceWaterhouseCoopers placed Baltika among the five most respected companies in Russia. Moreover, the Financial Times puts Baltika in the 22nd place in Eastern Europe and 11th place in Russia in terms of capitalization ($1.557 billion).
The sales results for 2002 position the Baltika brand in the second place in Europe with a total of 9.1 million hectoliters sold.
At the end of 2002 the company opened a subsidiary in Hamburg called Baltika Deutschland GmbH. Now in the German Federal Republic it is possible to buy the entire assortment of Baltika products.
In August 2003 Baltika was the sole Russian brewer to take part in the 7th International Berlin Beer Festival.
From October 11 to 15, 2003 Cologne will be host to the world’s largest food industry fair, ANUGA. This year for the first time and at the invitation of the organizers Russia will be represented by the Baltika Brewery.
The Russian company’s stand will feature two bars with the full assortment of 11 beer varieties of the Baltika brand. Russians’ well loved brands ‘Parnas’ and ‘Medovoe’ will also be presented to the public. Baltika No. 7 (Export) and Baltika No. 8 (Wheat Beer) will be available on tap for all visitors to the stand to try.
