Chuvashenergo branch introduces its own solutions to prevent damages in power grids

Chuvashenergo, a branch of IDGC of Volga, JSC (subsidiary of OAO Rosseti) is being engaged in implementation of the Innovative Development Program of IDGC of Volga, JSC aimed at improving the reliability and efficiency of power grid complex operation. As a result of research and development activities Chuvashenergo has developed models of new equipment and put them into operation. Among them is a system to control single phase-to-earth faults and identify the faulty connections within distribution grids. This innovation solution is installed on 1 section of 6 kV buses of 110/6 kV substation “Parkovaya”. The system enables to perform quick arc blowout at the place of single phase-to-earth fault and identify a faulty connection immediately. Another unique solution – a quick-response system of automatic current control is installed on the second section of 6 kV buses of 110/6 kV substation “Parkovaya”. One more innovative solution – dry-running power equipment to compensate for capacitive current in 6-10 kV distribution grids is mounted on 110/10/6 kV substation “Kirovskaya”. Such equipment is intended to be used in indoor substations; it is flameproof, environmentally friendly and maintains a low noise level. Estimates prove economic efficiency of these solutions. Chuvashenergo, a branch of IDGC of Volga, JSC, pays much attention to the implementation of R&D program. In 2013, it is planned to take on the activities aimed at developing the know-how – a static dry-running blowout unit to compensate for capacitive currents in 6-10 kV grids, its prototype model is planned to be put into operation in 2014.
