Specialists of Dimitrovgradskoe Production Department (DPD) of Ulyanovsk Distribution Grids (UDG), a branch of IDGC of Volga, PJSC (a member of Rosseti Group), overhaul the Melekess-Gorodskaya Substation ahead of schedule. The overhaul program includes the following activities: (i) repair of a 10 kV busbar bridge, oil receiver, seven 35 kV circuit breakers, thirty 10 kV circuit breakers; (ii) painting of metal portals and T-2 power transformer; (iii) replacement of three 35 kV valve-type station-class arresters and 110 kV arresters with 35 kV and 110 kV overvoltage suppressors, respectively. As compared to the previous solution, new compact-sized and functional overvoltage suppressors will ensure more reliable protection of electrical equipment against atmospheric and switching overvoltage. Improvement of substation areas involves a wide range of works: derusting of equipment, repair of corrosion-resistant coating, renovation of dispatch markings and safety signs, replacement of lamps. The substation is the main power source for most residents of the second largest city in the region and several settlements in the suburbs. Railway, OAO Dimitrovgradkhimmash and multiple social and household organizations and companies are among major consumers. The overhauling efforts improved the quality and reliability of power supplies to consumers and contributed to effective preparation of UDG for smooth operation during the 2015-2016 autumn and winter season.
