The workshop covered issues of evaluating company's current strategy, analyzing it's main lines of development, appropriate key indicators for strategic plans and programs.
Today Severstal is the only Russian company, which applies the BSC system in full. But many companies from various industries and market segments are interested in the BSC system of strategic planning.
In the course of the workshop participants developed BSCs for their companies and received useful advice and suggestions on developing BSCs at Severstal. Practical applications of BSCs in Russia are scarce. Severstal will present its own experience as compared with that of foreign companies, which have been using it for a number of years.
According to Dmitry Goroshkov, Severstal' sales director, "The BSC was an important project in business organization this year. Our sales department staff was actively involved in it. A number of meetings and workshops were held jointly with Severstal's department of strategic planning. The BSC was finally designed."
Dmitry Goroshkov emphasized that in order to achieve high results, it's important to not only pay attention to sales and profit but evaluate each client's satisfaction.
Today the pilot stage of the project is over. The company has studied the results. Several models of the BSC for next year are examined. The main issue is to find ways to motivate sales staff based on weather they meet targets and objective fixed in the BSC.
According to Dmitry Goroshkov, there are three levels of the BSC. Null level covers Severstal as a whole, 1st level covers the sales department and 3rd level - specific departments within the sales department. As a result, each person can see as her/his specific actions affect specific BSC's and the BSC of Severstal as a whole.
