MGTS Payphone Department management signed an agreement with the United Smart Cards Company (USC), pursuant to which MGTS payphones will accept the following credit cards for payment: VISA International, Europay (Eurocard/MasterCard), DINERS CLUB International, JCB International, STB-Card. The company plans to enable its customers to pay for all types of phone calls - local, long-distance and international - using bankcards.

MGTS long-standing partner Siemens Elasa (Spain) was selected as the equipment supplier. Initially, the credit card systems equipment will be tested in a lab, and then the new service will go through a test run at 25 payphones located at railroad terminals and major trade and entertainment centers.

After the test run is completed and the project's economic due diligence is conducted by MGTS Payphone Department management the company will decide whether this service should be expanded further.

Moscow City Telephone Network management believes that this innovation is one of the promising payphone business development directions in Moscow. The launch of the new payment system will considerably enhance the clientele and make the company's business more competitive at the capital's dynamic telecommunications market.
