June 30, 1997 - LUKOIL President Vagit Alekperov and UralAZ General Director Yuri Gorozhaninov have signed a general agreement on cooperation between their companies in Moscow today.
In accordance with the agreement, UralAZ, on order from LUKOIL, will continue to develop and manufacture special vehicles for the oil and oil-refining industry and pass them over to LUKOIL which will have the right to sell them.
The vehicles are intended for work in the fields of the Western Siberian oil and gas sector.
Under the agreement, LUKOIL will fully supply UralAZ with all types of fuel and lubricants and coolants, and will develop new and economical types of fuels and lubricants for UralAZ. The Ural trucks manufactured by UralAZ will be filled with LUKOIL fuel and lubricants.
UralAZ will also take charge of promoting LUKOIL fuel and lubricants in this country and abroad.
LUKOIL gas-filling complexes will be attached to technical centers for the maintenance of Ural trucks in the Russian Federation and in former Soviet republics.
LUKOIL President Vagit Alekperov said at the signing ceremony that he was satisfied with business contacts between Russian oil producers and automobile builders. In 1996-97 LUKOIL signed similar agreements with Kamaz, Avtovaz, ZIL and YELAZ.
