| Moscow, 26 May 2004. The Chairman of the Management Board of RAO "UES of Russia" Anatoly Chubais, who co-chairs the EU-Russian Industrialists' Roundtable on behalf of Russia, had a meeting today with the EU Co-Chairman of the Roundtable Matti Vuoria, who is completing his service in this position, and his expected successor Yukka Harmala. Also, Anatoly Chubais held talks with Erkki Liikanen, EU Commissioner for industry and information society. During the meetings, the parties discussed measures to step up the cooperation among Russia and EU's industrialists within the framework of the Roundtable, and preparations for the 6th Meeting of the Roundtable scheduled for autumn 2004.
EU-Russian Industrialists' Roundtable plays an increasingly important role in strengthening the economic ties between Russia and the EU member countries. The work of the Roundtable is carried out with the support of the Government of the Russian Federation and the European Commission's leaders. This organization seeks to promote direct dialogue between industrialists of Russia and the EU covering such areas of cooperation as energy, transport, forest, pulp and paper, and textile industries, and various branches of machine building. The Roundtable provides a forum for discussing strategic problems of development of bilateral co-operation.
