A?roflot switches to winter timetable

On October 26 Aeroflot-Russian Airlines starts making flights according to the winter timetable till March 27, 2004.

Compared with the winter timetable of the last year Aeroflot routes and frequency of flights are remarkable for HIGHER intensity and maximum optimization of changing planes in the new winter season.

Flight frequency increases for regular internal flights to Volgograd (from 7 times a week up to 13),
Ekaterinburg (from 12 times a week up to 14),
Saint Petersburg (from 31 to 34),
Kaliningrad (from 7 to 28and also for the international flights )
to Yerevan (from 11 times a week up to 14),
Bishkek (from 4 to 7),
Nice (from 2 to 3),
Munich (from 12 to 14),
Athens (from 3 to 4),
Oslo (from 4 to 5),
Madrid (from 5 to 7),
Barcelona (from 2 to 3),
Toronto (from 4 to 5),
Havana (from 1 to 2),
Cairo (from 1 to 2),
Antalya (from 1 to 2),
Dubai (from 2 to 4),
Shanghai (from 3 to 4),
Hong Kong (from 3 to 4).
Flights to Nizhny Novgorod will be resumed with the frequency of 14 times a week.

Taking into consideration seasonal demand for some directions the airline company reduces a number of flights to Nizhnevartovst (from 10 to 7),
Astrakhan (from 6 to 5),
Vilnius (from 6 to 4),
Zagreb (from 3 to 2).

Flights to some points of destination have been held up; Aeroflot and its partners provide their customers with opportunities of alternative delivery.

Singapore (through Bangkok), Ho Chi Minh (through Hanoi), Amman (through Larnaka or Damascus), Lisbon (through Paris, Madrid or Barcelona) are among such routes.

Flights in a number of directions are going to be made by airline companies – Aeroflot partners according to Code-Sharing Agreements – to Dublin (Skynet), Ljubljana (Adria Airways), Sochi (Aeroflot-Don), Arkhangelsk (Arkhangelsk airlines).

When switched to the winter timetable Aeroflot will start using planes of GTK “Russia” Company. Aeroflot cooperation with the state transporting company is fixed by an agreement according to which at the first stage Aeroflot will use Tu-214 for flights to Ulan Bator and other airliners for flights to Nizhny Novgorod and Luanda.

In winter weekly charter flights are to be made to Innsbruck by Boeing 737 and to Malaga by Tu-154.

The winter timetable is provided with 65 airliners with the average flight time per a plane of more than 9 hours. Aeroflot plans to fly about 92,000 hours and make 25,000 flights.

The distinguishing feature of the winter season is regular and charter carriages within the large-scale program of the air fleet substitution.

The air feet restructuring program providing substitution of 27 foreign-made planes is carried out according to the schedule.

The new liners will start flying on routes provided specially for them just on their arrival. In this respect, Boeing 767 acquired within the program is used for flights Moscow-Tokyo-Moscow; there the new standard of passenger service in high classes is introduced following the American direction.

The first airliner received in October 2003 “Airbus” A319 “Prokofyev” in new colors and better design will make flights to Copenhagen and Helsinki.

Till the end of the year seven air liners of A319/320 type are to be used for flights to Munich, Brussels, Ekaterinburg, Paris, London and Madrid. The air fleet will be gradually substituted on many European flights of Aeroflot.

Four freight carriers DC-10-40F will be regularly used in winter timetable that will help to increase number of flights and broad flights area.

According to Aeroflot Director General Valery Okulov, “thanks to the route optimization during the last two years we achieved significant improvement of results including financial ones.

Aeroflot stakes on flights frequency increase in the most attractive markets like the Western Europe, Russia and South-Eastern Asia.

At the same time we develop routes on the basis of partnership agreements with other airline companies; that’s why Aeroflot is getting more and more partners.”
