LUKOIL gas stations start accepting VISA cards via GPRS terminals

LUKOIL and Visa International completed the pilot stage of installing VISA card GPRS terminals at the Company’s filling stations.

At present, GPRS terminals operate at 37 LUKOIL filling stations in Saint-Petersburg and Moscow.

In two year’s time, LUKOIL plans to install such systems at over 500 gas stations in Moscow, Moscow region, Saint Petersburg, Leningrad region, Krasnodar territory and other cities with the population above 1 mln people, as well as on federal highways.

GPRS technology makes the process of Visa payments quicker, more convenient and efficient. It accounts for 98% connection reliability. Earlier, in some areas transactions were not possible on account of wire lines unavailability or unfeasibility of their installation, today, however, wireless terminals allow for economic activity in such areas as well.

“The goal of our participation in this project is to create value-added services for our clients, reward the most loyal of them, and attract new ones. VISA payment via GPRS terminals complies with all our goals and is a modern and convenient payment method. LUKOIL grants particular privileges to its clients who use VISA”, said Vadim Vorobyev, OAO LUKOIL Vice-President.

At present, VISA card holders using their cards as payment for fuel, lubricants and related products at LUKOIL filling stations get a 2% discount. In the long run, the Company plans to give bonus points to its clients, which will become the basis of a large-scale loyalty program.
