Severstal delegation was the largest of all delegations present at the special meeting which took place at the Administration of Vologda region. The meeting was dedicated to the celebration of the Innovator and Inventor Day in Russia.
   The meeting participants discussed development of innovation and invention activity in Vologda region, increasing use and application of inventions and innovations, and increasing the latter role in speeding up technological progress.
   Severstal presented six inventions, which brought substantial economic results. Five Severstal inventors will receive Governor's thank you letters and one Severstal employee will be given an inscribed watch from the Governor of Vologda region. The awards will be given away at the special awards ceremony, which will take place during the meeting.
   In 2001, 1,387 innovations were proposed by Severstal employees, 1,178 of them were implemented. This has brought an economic result estimated at 56.37 million rubles. The highest economic result was noted in the cocking plant, agglomeration an converter shops, steel rolling plants and drop hammer shop. Over the same time frame 8 inventions were used, 90 inventions were continued using, 51 applications for invention were submitted, 13 patents were received and 17 decisions on issuing patents were made. Just over six months of 2002 economic result of implementing 450 innovations totaled 34 million rubles.
