Specialists of the department of corporate and technological ACS of Rosseti Volga (a brand of IDGC of Volga, PJSC) summed up the first results of the organization of remote work in the company.

“In essence, the expansion of the use of distance technologies is the planned work within the framework of implementing the Rosseti Digital Transformation-2030 concept for the development of cloud services,” says Vadim Guryanov, head of the corporate and technological ACS department. “Organization of the “digital office” did not become a problem for our IT-specialists, since the entire technical and software base was prepared for work in remote access mode. The main difficulty was the short deadlines for the mass transition to remote work and the need to ensure high availability of central resources, but we successfully coped with this. Our Internet service providers, who managed to quickly organize the expansion of the used Internet communication channels, also helped.”

Cloud services are used quite widely. In the new conditions, the specialists of Rosseti Volga were able to test them on a large number (about 3,000) of remote jobs. User workstations with all the necessary software are configured on the company's servers, the user's computer is just a “window” for viewing or entering information into software systems, all information processing is performed on the servers. A specialist can work on almost any computer or laptop without installing and configuring the programs he needs, in the office, from home, on a business trip. In other words, in the new working conditions, the user's activity and its results do not depend on where he is physically located. By unifying user workstations, their maintenance for IT specialists is simplified, and labor productivity is growing.

Other advantages of using remote access and electronic document management with the use of digital signatures are reduced costs for re-equipment of workplaces, purchase and maintenance of office equipment, purchase of consumables and, ultimately, improving the quality of customer service. Meetings are also held remotely online, which reduces the time and expense of business trips, but at the same time increases the efficiency of resolving issues.

Expanding the scope of remote access technologies is an integral element of digitalization, without which in the modern world can not do. Rosseti Volga is confidently following the path of introducing modern technologies, and not only in central offices, but also locally, in PDZ. The experience of recent months is analyzed and taken into account in further work.

“In fact, the operational transition of 80% of office staff to a remote mode of operation in the fight against coronavirus infection allowed us to effectively test the remote access system, draw conclusions and outline further ways of its development and integration into general processes,” said Vadim Guryanov. “And of course, in the context of the development of digitalization, cybersecurity issues are of particular importance.”
