In June, branches of the Moscow Fire Service fully paid for current consumption and partially redeemed the outstanding debt, paying 1.1 million rubles. However, as of July 1, 2002, the amount of debt still due from these branches remains high—3.6 million rubles.

Considering the high risk of fires in the summer time, AO Mosenergo did not apply restrictive measures against MFS (neither reducing electricity supply, nor cutting off the electric power). However, to prepare the energy system for peak loads in winter 2002–2003, the company needs funds to purchase fuel, replace and repair the equipment, etc.

AO Mosenergo asked the MFS’s management to redeem the debts for consumed power in the shortest possible time and expected the understanding from the Ministry’s leadership.
