Power stealing is still a pressing problem for Mordovenergo, a branch of IDGC of Volga, PJSC (a member of Rosseti Group). Since the beginning of 2016, non-contracted power consumption amounted to 138,000 kWh. Such actions caused damage to the amount of RUB 380 thousand.

Employees of Mordovenergo branch revealed several consumers which were using power without any contractual obligations. Eight persons guilty of such law violation were held administratively liable and had to pay penalties under Article 7.19 of the Administrative Offenses Code.

Negative consequences of illegal power consumption may affect each bona fide consumer. Therefore, power engineers urge the residents of the Republic of Mordovia to pay attention to this important problem and report such facts to the power supply company or law enforcement authorities.
