During the first six months of 2002 OJSC Southern Telecommunications Company entered 18,060 new lines into services, which exceeds the planned index of 13,524 and is up 144.8% year on year. Electronic telephone exchanges account for 68.1%, or 12,300 lines of the company's total line capacity.
The total amount of capital invested during the first six months of 2002 was Rub 322,877. The company also placed Rub 157,604,000 into its fixed asset funds.
OJSC Southern Telecommunications Company also continued its work on digitalization. OJSC STC commissioned 83.3 km of fiber optic telecom lines, including a 59.5 km long VOLP from Labinsk to Armavir, a 15.3 km long VOLP from the Kavkazskaya exchange to the Temizhbekskaya station and an 8.5 km long VOLP linking the Temizhbekskaya exchange and Stavropol krai.
