Magnitogorsk Industrial Week

Next week, two all-Russian conferences on steel making topics will be held at the Yubileyny Sanatorium, which belongs to Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK).

Metallosnazhenie I Sbyt (‘Metal Supply and Sales’) Information and Publishing Service, together with MMK, Magnitogorsk hardware and calibration plant MMK-METIZ and Prommetiz Association will organise events that will bring together more than 200 managers and specialists from various regions of the country.

On September 14-15, the organisers will host the "Russian Metal Service Centres: Equipment, Technologies, Market" conference. Representatives of metal processing companies will discuss developments in processing of flat, long and pipe rolled products in Russia; the development of sales markets for metal service centre products and promising niches for the introduction of new types of metal products and other relevant topics of the Russian metal processing market. The conference will be attended by top management of metal service centres, manufacturers of metal products, suppliers of raw materials for processing rolled products, companies that develop equipment for metal service centres, metal trading companies, industry unions, research institutes and engineering design bureaus. On the second day of the conference, participants will visit MMK's production site, as well as the production sites of Ural Metalworking Company and M-steel Group, one of the residents of MMK Industrial Park.

On September 17-18, the "Wire – Fasteners" conference will take place, with a focus on the following key themes: the production and consumption of metal products in Russia and abroad; investment, production and marketing programmes of major manufacturers of hardware products; modern requirements for hardware products; new prototypes, new materials, distribution and trade of hardware products; opportunities for the development of metal service centres; and the market forecast for metal products in Russia and the CIS in the short and medium terms. The event will also include a tour of MMK's production plant for graded metals and a tour of the Magnitogorsk hardware and calibration plant MMK-METIZ.

MMK-METIZ is one of the largest enterprises in the Russian hardware industry, firmly holding its position in the top three Russian companies. The company accounts for 22% of total domestic sales of hardware products in Russia. The company is a part of MMK Group and is the most important part of MMK's further processing of rolled products. In recent years, MMK-METIZ has been actively developing and implementing a large-scale investment programme. This includes the completion of concentrate production on a single production site last year, which will increase the efficiency of the use of space and significantly reduce energy consumption. The development programme also includes the commissioning of 75 units of new high-tech equipment for the production of fasteners, wire and cables, as well as calibrated steel.
