The JSC "Leningradsky Metallichesky Zavod" shipped the 190 Mw water turbine for the block ? 2 of the Bureyskaia, which is under construction at present. Previously (February, 2002) the company delivered a hydroelectric generator for the first block and two runners to them.
The contract for delivery of turbines for the second and the third blocks of the Bureyskaia HPP (delivery of the equipment for the third block is to start in the second half of 2003) was signed in February, 2001. Besides the LMZ two more companies participate in the construction – the JSC "Electrosila", which produces hydro-generators and the key subcontractor of the principal equipment for the plant – the JSC "Energomachexport".
The first block of the Bureyskaia HPP (185 Mw) is to be put into operation in summer 2003, and the second – by the end of 2003. The construction will be completed by 2007.
The stepwise plan of putting the Bureyskaia HPP into operation will make it possible to overcome the shortage of electric power in the Far East and first of all in Primoriye, make energy supply more reliable and will save several tons of fuel brought to the region annually.
After construction is completed, the Bureyskaia HPP will be the biggest hydro power plants in the country and its installed capacity will reach 8,60 milliard of kilowatt per hour.
Additional information
The Bureyskaia HPP is being constructed in the river Bureya, which is translated for the Evenk language as "furious". When the site for the plant was being chosen its proximity to industrially developed centres of the Far East were taken into consideration. An extremely suitable place was found for the new power plant, situated within 174 kilometres from the confluence of Bureya and the river Amur.
The JSC "ZeyaGESstroy" is the prime contractor for construction of the Bureyskaia HPP. The major subcontractors taking part in the power plant construction are: "Gidromontazh", "Spetsgidroenergomontazh", "Gidroelectromontazh", "Gidrospetsstroy", "Leningradsky Metallichesky Zavod", "Electrosila", and some other.
