The consortium made up of CJSC "Energomachexport – Power Machines (the leader), the CJSC "Group Intertechelectro" and the CJSC "MKD Partner became the winner of the closed competition, conducted by the JSC "Bashkirenergo" aimed at appointing a prime contractor for construction of the 450 Mw steam-gas unit in the Ufimskaya steam power plant on the "turn-key" basis. The first two gas turbines GTE-160 manufactured by the Leningradsky Metallichesky Zavod will be installed and put into operation in Bashkiria.
FGUP "Technopromexport", representing interests of the JSC "Elsib" and the German group "Siemens" also participated in the competition for delivery of the equipment for the Ufimskaya steam power plant. But the board of the competition accepted the technical project put forward by consortium headed the Power Machines Group.
The total value of the contract for delivery of the equipment amounted to 285 million US dollars. The steam-gas unit is to be constructed on the "turn-key" basis according to the terms of the competition within 3 years. Principal equipment for the steam-gas unit (PGU) of the Ufimskaya SPP-5, with the total capacity of 450 Mw will be manufactured by the following joint-stock companies: Leningradsky Metallichesky Zavod (LMZ), Electrosila and Turbine Blades Plant (ZTL)
According to the project terms the LMZ will assemble two gas and one steam turbine the capacity of each being 160 Mw; the blades for the turbines will be manufactures at the ZTL. Electrosila will manufacture and supply three turbo-generators, the capacity of each being 160 Mw: one for coupling with the steam turbine and the other two for coupling with the gas turbine.
Earlier similar steam-gas units was installed and put into operation at the North-Western heat thermoelectric power plant in St. Petersburg. But the gas-turbine units for the plant, bearing the brand V94.2, had been manufactured at "Intertubo" – a joint venture of the LMZ and "Siemens" and bought from "Siemens".
In 2001 the LMZ and "Siemens" signed the license agreement, in accordance with which "Siemens" handed over to the LMZ manufacturing methods and the right to produce and market the gas-turbine units V94.2. This piece of equipment manufactured in Russia under the brand of the LMZ and is officially named as GTE-160. At the beginning it is planned to deliver the GTE-160 to the power generating enterprises of Russian and Byelorussia. But after delivery of the first two or three steam-gas units and their commercial operation, the zone of the license validity might be expanded to cover the whole territory of the CIS and some foreign countries.
In the nearest future the Power Machines Group will participate in a number of tenders for delivery of similar steam-gas units in Russia.
