On July 14, Shaturskaya GRES completed repairs of power unit No. 1, power boiler TP-108 and turbine K-210-130. In the course of repairs that lasted for six months, the company replaced main equipment items and eliminated newly found defects.

In 2002, AO MOSENERGO plans to conduct various repairs at all six power units of GRES-5. The company also plans to check boilers and turbine generators. The company has already repaired units No. 3 and 4. Power unit No. 5 is currently under capital repair. The repair of unit No. 2 is scheduled for September. In addition, the company will check and repair a fuel oil tank at GRES-5 and chimney No. 2, as well as all transformers. The company plans to test grid pipelines and replace damaged parts.

Under the repair program for 2002, AO MOSENERGO has allocated around 300 million rubles for Shaturskaya GRES repairs, which is 7% less than the originally budgeted amount. The funding had to be cut due to the insufficient size of electricity and heat tariffs. Nevertheless, according to Vasily Nazarkin, the chief engineer responsible for GRES-5 repairs, the station’s equipment will be fully prepared for operation before the beginning of the heating season. This will ensure the reliable heat and power supply for consumers throughout the whole autumn/winter period.
