Gazprom Transgaz Yugorsk wins Summer Spartakiada Games of Gazprom

Kazanhosted today a solemn closing ceremony of the 10th Adult Summer Spartakiada Games and the 5th Children's Summer Spartakiada Games of Gazprom.

The participants and guests were greeted by Alexey Miller, Ńhairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, Rustam Minnikhanov, President of the Republic of Tatarstan and Rafkat Kantyukov, Director General of Gazprom Transgaz Kazan.

“The World Summer Universiade had finished just a little while ago, but the sports festival in Kazan went on thanks to the participants of Gazprom's Spartakiada Games. Our athletes showed their best combative skills, strength of mind and willingness to win. You rightfully deserve your prizes. We are proud of your achievements and thank you for the outstanding spectacular competitions that were a real present to the guests of the Spartakiada Games,” Alexey Miller noted at the closing ceremony.

The first prize in the team event at the 10th Adult Spartakiada Games was won by the Gazprom Transgaz Yugorsk athletes. They became the best in track and field, swimming and football. The second prize was taken by the Gazprom Transgaz Yekaterinburg team, the third one – by the Gazprom Transgaz Moscow team.

The final medal table of the 5th Children's Spartakiada Games was also topped by the Gazprom Transgaz Yugorsk team. The company's athletes gained the maximum points in table tennis, track and field and swimming. Silver medals were awarded to Gazprom Transgaz Tomsk and bronze medals – to Gazprom Transgaz Moscow.

Some special prizes were also prepared for the competitors. Alexey Miller awarded the Sports Spirit prize to the Gazprom Transgaz Yekaterinburg team, the Oldest Participant of the Spartakiada Games prize to Alexander Sarvin from Gazprom Transgaz Samara and the Youngest Participant of the Spartakiada Games prize to Semyon Semyonov from Gazprom Dobycha Astrakhan. Rustam Minnikhanov awarded the Spartakiada Games Novices prize to the Gazprom Transgaz Belarus team and Rafkat Kantyukov gave the For the Will to Win prize to the Gazprom Transgaz Surgut team.


Gazprom holds annual Winter and Summer Spartakiada Games in the cities and towns where the Company's subsidiaries are present. There are both Adult and Children's Spartakiada Games, in which Gazprom Group employees and children attending sports clubs of the Company's subsidiaries take active part. Members of Russian national teams, participants of zonal competitions, official national, European and world tournaments and championships as well as the Olympic Games are not permitted to participate in the competitions.

The main aim of the Spartakiada Games is establishing a healthy lifestyle of Gazprom's team and the younger generation. The Spartakiada Games permit to share the working experience in developing physical training and mass sports as well as retaining sports traditions.

Taking part in the 10th Adult Summer Spartakiada Games and the 5th Children's Summer Spartakiada Games of Gazprom were over 2.5 thousand athletes representing 25 adult and 17 children's teams from Gazprom's 29 subsidiaries. A total of 396 medals were awarded.
