On 18 October 2007, the OJSC North West Telecom provided the technical support of the "Direct Line" with Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation. Calls from the North-West Federal District were received by the President's call centre through the dedicated lines of the OJSC Rostelecom and were also processed by the voice electronic servers of the OJSC North West Telecom.

In total, the number of calls from the North-West of Russia to the "Direct Line" with the President (telephone number 8-800-200-4040) between 14 and 18 October 2007 amounted   to 131,299. The greatest number of calls - over 48 thousand - were made by the inhabitants of St Petersburg, over 16 thousand calls came from the Leningrad Region, and over 11 thousand from the Murmansk Region.

Engineers of the OJSC North West Telecom provided a high-quality uninterrupted telecommunication throughout the open period of the "Direct Line".

In addition, the OJSC North West Telecom took part in providing the lines for the TV programme which was aired on 18 October and featured a "teleconference bridge" with the President of the Russian Federation. There were "telebridges" with Kaliningrad and with the Plesetsk Space Centre in the Arkhangelsk Region. According to the senior management and engineers of the technical centre of the All-Russian State Broadcasting Company (VGTRK) and the OJSC Rostelecom, the telecommunication with Plesetsk and Kaliningrad for the President's "Direct Line" telebridge was provided at a high level of technology and quality.
