According to the original design, a MEG unit was intended for 63 000 TPA of first grade product. Due to the higher market demand, NKNK management decided to increase its output and approved an appropriate long-term program, first half of which was implemented in 2001 and the second will cover the years 2004-2005.

In line with that program, five inventions were put into practice, which enabled to double MEG output of the existing equipment, i.e., with minimum spending. Moreover, MEG of the highest quality – fiber grade, is now produced, and being a valuable petrochemical product is in great demand both in Russia and abroad. The Ethylene Oxide Plant achieved such figures for the fiber grade MEG chemical composition, which meet all the requirements of world consumers. And its technology developed by plant's experts in conjunction with R & D Laboratory of NKNK was patented in Russia and recognized as the best invention of 2002 in chemical industry.
