Power Machines Group to modernize the NPP in Ukraine

Power Machines Group modernized the 1000MW generator of South Ukrainian NPP (SUNPP).The second power unit of SUNPP was recently put into operation. Power Machines Group specialists upgraded the 1000MW generator on site, increasing its reliability and operating life.

Previously the group’s specialists successfully carried out site renewal of the stator coil of the first generator. The overhaul modernization of the 1000MW generator on site was carried out for the first time in Russia and CIS countries. This know-how permits to reduce terms and costs of the works while the high level of quality remains the same.

In the near future the group‘s specialists will start the overhaul modernization of the third generator.

Power Machines Group are planning to extend their presence in Ukraine by taking part in the reconstruction of Rovenskaya and Zaporozhskaya Nuclear Power Plants.


The construction of SUNPP on a bank of the Yuzhnyi Boug river started in 1976. It is equipped with three 1000MW power units, the first of which was put into operation in 1982, the second – in 1985 and the third – in 1989. The generators were manufactured by Electrosila (member of Power Machines Group). During 10 years of operation the NPP produced the total of 100 bln. kilowatt-hours. The power station’s capacity is estimated at 3000MW.
