OJSC Khantymansiiskokrtelecom generated a gross revenue of Rub 1,524,300,000 during the first six months of 2002, which represents a 42.3% increase year-on-year.  This amount includes sales of telecom services for a total of Rub 1,233,000,000 (35.7% growth).  Revenue generated by sales of telecom services to residential customers increased up to 65.9%. 

The average amount spent on telecom services per inhabitant of the Khanty-Mansiisk autonomous region during the period under review was Rub 571.  This is the highest growth record for telecom services among all regional operators in Russia.  The high digitalization rate of OJSC Khantymansiiskokrtelecom is to a large extent responsible for this excellent performance.  The percentage of electronic switching facilities among the company's total line capacity of automatic telephone exchanges is 93.5% in cities and 55.1% in rural areas. Over three quarters of the company's zonal channels have been organized into digital transmission systems. OJSC Khantymansiiskokrtelecom has expanded its telephone networks up to 200% of the size when it began operating nine years ago.  The density of residential telephone lines has reached 18.7 per 100 inhabitants.  In such cities as Kogalym and Beloyarsky 94 families out of every 100 are telephone subscribers of Okrtelecom.  The line capacity of automatic telephone exchanges has risen by 4,400 lines over the past six months.  An increase of 11,500 lines is expected during the second half of 2002.  The company is anticipating a rise of 8,894 in basic telephone units.  Long-distance and international traffic rose over the past six months by 27.7% and stood at 510.6 minutes per line.  Digital technology has made it possible to phase in a whole range of new services.  Digital switching facilities have been operational for some time now.  They have helped generate an additional Rub 5.3. mn on revenues of Rub 1.2 bn.  In addition, Rub 292,000 in free telecom services were rendered to subscribers of the Khanty-Mansiisk autonomous region during the period under review.  Value added services are becoming very popular among the population.  These services accounted for revenues in excess of Rub 1 mn during the first six months of 2002.  Plastic cards, which are available at information kiosks in four cities of the region, were sold to 461,600 people during 1H 2002.  A wide range of telecom and recreational services generated Rub 836,400.  Calling cards are also becoming a regular part of life in cities across the region.  The high demand for these services is supported by a very important factor: OJSC Khantymansiiskokrtelecom is making great efforts to upgrade the quality of these cards as well as the attendant customer service.  The existing 16 customer service centers play an important role in this process.  The gross revenues of OJSC Khantymansiiskokrtelecom rose 96.6% compared to the year-earlier period and stood at Rub 532 mn, while net profit reached Rub 304.8 bn, which represents a 2.27-fold increase.
