Gazprom opens Project Operations Department office in Saint Petersburg

The official opening of the Project Operations Department office took place today in Saint Petersburg. Taking part in the ceremony were Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, Nikolai Vinnichenko, Russian Presidential Envoy to the Northwestern Federal District, Georgy Poltavchenko, Governor of Saint Petersburg, Alexander Drozdenko, Governor of the Leningrad Region and Andrey Skrepnyuk, Head of the Project Operations Department.

The Department now occupies the refurbished building at 61B Ligovsky Avenue. The office area covers 2.4 thousand square meters. The building was constructed by architect Andrey Bertels in 1888.

“The North-West now holds a prominent place on the gas map of Russia. It took but several years for it to become a powerful gas transmission center and a firm base for Russian gas exports to Europe. We actively engage the region production potential: from pipe plants to shipbuilding facilities, we cooperate with its R&D and engineering institutes. We also carry out our project activities in this leading territory,” said Alexey Miller.

As part of his visit to the office, Alexey Miller held a videoconference with heads of Gazprom's engineering and research institutes.

Background

The Project Operations Department as well as the Prospective Development Department was set on the basis of Gazprom's Strategic Development Department at the end of 2011.

The main tasks to be implemented by the Project Operations Department are pre-investment studies execution as well as design and exploration work, examination, support of new production facilities construction and expansion, reconstruction and re-equipment of the existing facilities.
