At the XXV St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Rosneft and the Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent) signed a cooperation agreement on the legal protection of intellectual property.

Rosneft pays special attention to the development of advanced technical solutions and implementation of innovations in all areas of activity in order to improve the competitiveness of the Company, and to implement import substitution objectives.

The application of Rosneft's state-of-the-art developments contributes to the innovative development of the economy and research and development infrastructure of the Russian Federation.

Rosneft is the only company in Russia that has a full range of science-intensive software applications developed in-house. It has designed 16 software packages to apply in geology, production and refining.

The Company's software products are superior to their foreign analogues both in terms of the list of tasks to perform and the speed of computation. The developed software packages are not only used within the Company, but are also sold to third-party organizations, and  transferred to the leading partner universities of Rosneft to train future industry specialists.

A prerequisite for successful development of computer programs, advanced technologies and innovative products is the effective patent protection of intellectual property.

The cooperation agreement between Rosneft and Rospatent provides for expert support and the exchange of experience on intellectual property protection and registration matters. The parties intend to exchange information on tax and legal issues related to the creation of intellectual property and implementation of new technologies.

As part of the digital transformation and IT technology development, more than 50 thousand digital twins of wells and production facilities were implemented. Rosneft launched the Digital Field and Digital Plant projects.

Technology development of Rosneft in oil refining is focused on the designing of own catalysts. More than 10 grades of catalysts were developed and produced at the Company's catalyst plants. They surpass foreign analogues in a number of characteristics.

Rosneft's research and design unit developed new Euro 6 motor gasolines. Production technologies were designed for improved gasolines, and stricter environmental requirements were set in respect to six parameters, including sulfur, benzene and olefin hydrocarbons.
