ROSSETI

May 17, 2021

Andrey Ryumin, Head of Rosseti, and Veniamin Kondratiev, the Governor of Krasnodar Territory, discussed the functioning and development of the grid complex in the region

During the meeting, which took place today in Krasnodar, the topic of preparing the grid for the holiday season was touched upon. Power engineers have already repaired 970 transformer substations and over 5.6 thousand km of overhead power transmission lines, and have replaced 39 thousand insulators. About 950 hectares of power lines have been cleared to minimise the risk of downstream fires.

"Krasnodar Territory is a traditional and iconic holiday destination for people all over Russia. A direct consequence of the high tourist flow is a significant increase in energy consumption and load on the grid. Repairs and preparation of power equipment make it possible to guarantee a reliable power supply to residents and guests of the Black Sea coast," said Andrey Ryumin.

"The company's investment programme today includes not only the reconstruction of existing networks, but also the construction of new facilities. This is very important. The demand for electricity exceeds the existing capacity, and we face capacity shortages when building social facilities such as Sports City or the medical cluster in Znamenskoye. I hope that the joint steps outlined today will enable to solve this problem," stressed Veniamin Kondratiev.

In addition, Rosseti has initiated a number of major projects to improve the reliability of networks in Krasnodar and Big Sochi. Earlier in 2020, a 110 kV Angarskaya Substation with a capacity of 50 MVA was commissioned in Krasnodar. In addition, the 110 kV Pochtovaya substation in Krasnodar will be renovated in 2021, increasing its capacity by 60 MVA. The 110 kV Kudepsta Substation is being renovated in the Sochi power district, and the 110 kV Adler and Pasechnaya Substations will be upgraded by the end of 2022. The total increase in capacity in the Sochi power district will be 96 MVA.

The issues raised at the meeting included the grid consolidation, which is being implemented in accordance with the Electric Power Strategy of the Russian Federation until 2035. The company works consistently with local authorities to deal with ownerless facilities. Between 2017 and 2020, 43 MVA and 511 km of distribution lines were transferred to Rosseti Kuban.

With peak loads on the grid, Rosseti is ready to act as a single responsibility centre. It is a reminder that last year, several tens of thousands of the city's residents, powered by third-party territorial grid companies, were left without electricity during the abnormal 40-degree heatwave. Rosseti Kuban provided support in organising the repair work.

The results of the autumn-winter period were also presented at the meeting. "Rosseti Kuban finished the autumn-winter period 2020/2021 with improved reliability indicators.
