Mobile TeleSystems — strategy of quality

In October MTS opened three new complex service centers
Moscow, Russia, October 26, 2000 — Mobile TeleSystems OJSC (NYSE: MBT), Russia’s leading provider of GSM-900/1800 based mobile cellular communications services, announced that they opened in October a record number of new complex service centers. On October 12 a new center was opened at the address 4, Bolshaya Sukharevskaya Sq., and on October 26 two more centers — at 2, Novy Arbat St., and at 7/8, Nikoloyamskaya St.— received their first clients.

In all 3 centers new- and existing subscribers have access to the full range of services: sales of subscriptions and equipment, advises on fitting tariff plans, equipment maintenance, payments and so on. Every new office has 5 to 8 cash points. Additional departments as “sales”, “customer care” and “financial control” are manned by 5 to 10 people each.

Also here MTS proves to be the market leader with now 10 own sales/ service centers, located in various districts of Moscow. As a service provider, MTS comes to the client, instead of the other way around. MTS offices offer its subscribers such advantages as: sale of only certified equipment with manufacturer’s warranty, consultations by highly qualified personal, prompt solution of customer care and payment issues. This has resulted in a higher percentage of own sales versus dealer sales. In January this year circa 25% was sold through own offices; in September this percentage has grown to 32%.

“The quality of service is a comprehensive notion comprising user’s ability to call a subscriber he needs without problems, connection quality, customer care service, which makes mobile communications usage the most convenient. By creating easy accessible service centers, ten today and more to come, we do not only create higher own sales, but we also enlarge client’s loyalty. Today the Company’s service system appears in outlines more and more distinctly meeting user’s requirements at maximum.” — said Igor Timofeev, MTS Marketing Director.
