The 8th solemn award ceremony for the Russian National Olympus prize took place on November 18, 2003, in the Official Audience Room of the Russian President in the NationalKremlinPalace. ValeryYashinwasthewinnerinthenomination“Transport. Construction. Communication”, being recognized with the award of a Personal Medal “For Honor and Valor” and a Golden Olympus statuette. This was a way for the jury, traditionally consisting of Russia’s top executive and legislative officials, members of the business elite, outstanding cultural and sports figures, world-wide-known scientists, to pay homage to the personal contribution that the head of the largest Russian telecommunications holding company has made to the development of the domestic telecom sector and the formation of Russia’s new economy.
The Russian National OlympusPrize is the Principal All-Russian Public award and the only prize that reflects outstanding achievements in all fields of activity in Russian society.
The Prize was instituted by the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Russian government, the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the All-Russian Exposition Center, and the Third Millennium Social Development Fund.
