Specialists of Penzaenergo, a branch of IDGC of Volga, PJSC (a member of Rosseti Group of Companies) completed installation of 794 power metering devices rated for up to 0.4 kV for customers — natural persons and 10 power metering devices rated for 6-10 kV for customers — legal entities. Activities on installation of smart power metering devices were completed in Mokshanskiy, Bashmakovskiy, Zemetchinskiy, Bekovskiy, Maloserdobinskiy and Gorodishchenskiy districts, as well as in Nizhniy Lomov settlement. New generation power metering devices with electricity metering and accounting capabilities with accuracy class 1.0 were installed for subscribed customers. These devices support remote electricity metering. Additionally, electricity meters of a new type feature an integrated rating device allowing to charge for electricity at variable rates — separately for electricity consumed in the day and at night.
It is common knowledge that variable-rate meters are "greener" as they encourage energy efficiency. Besides, in certain cases use of a smart metering system contributes to prevention of potential fire caused by short-circuit failures. As part of implementing the smart electricity metering system in 2016, new electricity meters are installed at no additional cost to customers of Penzaenergo, enabling them to save on maintenance and operating costs.
Electricity meters are installed on pylons of overhead transmission lines along the borderline between the distribution network of Penzaenergo branch and customers' equipment. The scope of activities on installation of smart electricity meters include replacement of existing wires from pylons to subscribers' houses for modern self-supported insulated wire.
