MOSENERGO (TGC-3)

February 2, 2001

In 2000 MOSENERGO invested 5.9 billion rubles in capital construction of the company's subsidiaries

"In 2000 MOSENERGO invested 5.9 billion rubles in capital construction of the company's subsidiaries", said MOSENERGO chief engineer I.Goryunov at a conference on the results of the company's operation in 2000 and perspectives for 2001, held at MOSENERGO headquarters today.

Last year new technologies and equipment were introduced and brought into full operational status. MOSENERGO's first heat pumping set NT-410 was put into service at Power Unit 1 of HPP-28. The set's output capacity is 0.7 Gcal/h. Production tests of the set have shown that when used for recovering the circulation water of rejected heat, it produces a substantial economic and environmental effect. The sixth pumped storage unit was put into service at Zagorsk Hydroelectric Pumped Storage Power Plant (HPSPP). The unit's output capacity is 200 MW and with its introduction the plant has reached the designed output capacity of 1200 MW. In 2001 MOSENERGO plans to complete all installation activities at Zagorsk HPSPP.

Almost 14 km of 10-20 kW polyethylene-covered cables were laid at the Moscow Cable Network (MCN) in 2000. Last year also saw the introduction of new tele-mechanical instruments at 6-10 kW networks, and a new control room equipped with projection-type control board was introduced at the MCN ninth district. For the period from 1990 to 2000 MCN cable length increased by 10,000 km and by January 1, 2001 was 53,500 km.

"All these activities are directed at increasing the production capacity of our equipment, environmental safety and more efficient usage. Modern and properly operating equipment enables us to ensure the reliable supply of power to our customers," Goryunov said.
