Today, at Gazprom’s headquarters, Alexey Miller, Gazprom’s Management Committee Chairman, had a working meeting with NK Rosneft’s president, Sergey Bogdanchikov, and Surgutneftegaz’s director general, Vladimir Bogdanov.

Alexey Miller informed the participants of the progress in implementing the project on creating the integrated gas production, transportation and supply system to be used for gas export to China and Asia Pacific, in Eastern Siberia and the Far East.

The parties agreed that complex development of the East Siberian and Far Eastern oil and gas fields is vital for efficient exploration of hydrocarbon resources. The parties also paid particular attention to the development prospects for the Chayandinskoye and Talakanskoye oil and gas fields.

Estimated gas reserves of Eastern Siberia and the Far East account for 6.6 bcm. Two large fields, the Kovytkinskoye gas condensate field (2 bcm) and the Chayandinskoye oil and gas condensate field (1.24 bcm), have been discovered in these regions. These fields, along with the Yurubcheno-Tohomskoye oil and gas condensate field (0.7 bcm), Sobinsko-Payginskoye oil and gas condensate field (0.17 bcm), Talakanskoye oil and gas condensate field (0.05 bcm), the resource base of the Sakhalin I and Sakhalin II projects and the promising hydrocarbon areas of the Sakhalin shelf are the basic fields to be brought on stream. The development of these fields will determine the corporate strategy of hydrocarbon exploration in Eastern Siberia and the Far East.
