During the XXIII St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, contracts were signed with SSK Zvezda, structures representing Sovkomflot and VEB Leasing for the construction of three tankers with a deadweight of 51 thousand tons. The vessels will be operated under the Russian flag.
The project for the construction and subsequent chartering of a number of product carrier tankers of the new generation with a deadweight of 51 thousand tons, which will use environmentally friendly gas-engine fuel – natural gas, will meet international requirements on sulfur oxide, nitrogen and greenhouse gas emissions that will come into effect in 2020. "Green" tankers have an unlimited navigation area.
Ice class 1B will allow ships of this type to safely perform operations related to the transportation of petroleum products and gas condensate in ice-congested waters.
The construction of tankers at the facilities of Zvezda shipyard will contribute to the further development of the large-scale shipbuilding shipyard in the Primorsky Territory and localization of the production of shipboard systems, equipment, parts and components in the Russian Federation. Zvezda will obtain unique experience and competences in the design and construction of new generation tankers.
For reference:
Zvezda shipyard is being set up at the premises of the Far Eastern Zvezda Plant by the Consortium of Rosneft, Rosneftegaz and Gazprombank at the instruction of the President of Russia.
The product line of Zvezda will include vessels of up to 350 thousand tons displacement, elements of offshore platforms, ice-class vessels, commercial cargo vessels, special vessels and other types of marine equipment of any complexity, characteristics and designations, including equipment that has never been made in Russia due to the lack of necessary launch ways and hydraulic structures.
