Zahnradfabrik and KAMAZ Inc. organize a joint venture

In 2006 in Russia it is planned to assemble 5 000 gearboxes of Zahnradfabrik (ZF) production. The new production established by ZF and KAMAZ Inc. is called “ZF-KAMA”. Zahnradfabrik as a leading supplying enterprise has 51% of its authorized capital in “ZF-KAMA” venture, whereas 49% belong to KAMAZ Inc., a leading Russian truck manufacturer.

On January 27, 2005 at Zahnradfabrik in Friedrichschafen (Germany) Sergey Kogoghin, Director General of KAMAZ Inc., and Wolfgang Vogel, member of ZF Board and vice-president of transport and special vehicle, signed all necessary documents.

In 2006 “ZF-KAMA” company with 40 people of personnel is going to assemble 5.000 gearboxes per year of “Ecosplit” type for prime movers. At first all the spare parts will be of ZF production and only then KAMAZ Inc. will start its own mass production and delivery for “ZF-KAMA”. In 2004 ZF had already delivered 2 000 gearboxes to KAMAZ Inc. These deliveries were maid on the basis of the Agreement of cooperation achieved by the two companies and signed in 2002. “Organization of joint production will reinforce position of Zahnradfabrik in Friedrichschafen, because due to this cooperation our production volumes will increase. Besides ZF has the major part of authorized capital of ZF-KAMA”, said Wolfgang Vogel.

“KAMAZ Inc. remains a technological leader in Russia and will occupy new market position in Europe with the help of advanced European technologies”, said Sergey Kogoghin.

Establishing this joint venture Zahnradfabrik and KAMAZ Inc. are strengthening their successful long-term cooperation. While delivering “Ecosplit” type gearboxes from Freidrichschafen ZF also started delivering mechanical gearboxes from Brazil. In future ZF will supply KAMAZ Inc. with transferboxes and axles.

KAMAZ Inc. is among ten top vehicle manufacturers. It produces 30.000 trucks and 900 buses per year. Its share at the Russian truck market is 37,5%.

Zahnradfabrik is a chief supplying enterprise in the world vehicle industry. 53.500 people work at 119 enterprise in 25 countries. In 2003 ZF made 8,9 billion EURO of goods turnover that let the company occupy the 3d place in the rating of the largest suppliers of vehicle industry in Germany. In the world rating ZF is among 15 largest companies-suppliers.
