On November 26-28, 2003, Moscow hosted the Congress of Russia’s Engineers. Over 1,000 Russian engineers participated in the event.
The participants discussed the issues of reviving Russia’s sci-tech potential, elaborating public innovation policy and forming the legislative basis to support innovative activities in Russia to accelerate the country’s national economy growth. The participants stressed that scientists, engineers and designers would become the leading driving force of the process in this field.
Gazprom’s Management Committee Deputy Chairman, Alexander Ananenkov, took part in the Congress.
Alexander Ananenkov in his report listed the Company’s new large-scale projects on gas production, transportation and marketing. Mr. Ananenkov pointed out that the implementation of these projects depended on Gazprom’s resolving of some brand-new technological and technical tasks that require analyses of the latest achievements in the engineering science.
“We can say with full responsibility that Gazprom’s engineering and technical policy corresponds with the world’s trends. At the same time, we understand that innovations are impossible without hard work of all Russia’s engineers”.
Gazprom supports the participants’ proposals on working out and enacting the Federal Law “On Engineer’s Status and Engineer Activity in the Russian Federation” and on creating the Supreme Engineer Council of the Russian Federation,” Mr. Ananenkov was quoted as saying.
