During the freezing temperatures occurring in December and early January power consumption in Moscow region increased 30%. However, there were no emergency situations in Mosenergo's areas of responsibility.
In December 2002, AO MOSENERGO supplied 12,790,000 GCal of heat (the average air temperature was –12.5°?). This is 765,000 more than in 2001, when the average temperature was –10.6°?.
In the second half of December, AO MOSENERGO power stations burned 1,220 mln m3 of gas. The company exceeded forecasts, using more fuel oil (by 85,000 t), Kuznetsk coal (by 190,000 t), brown coal (by 23,000 t). In December as gas supplies from Mezhregiongas decreased, AO MOSENERGO increased purchases of fuel oil and coal to maintain the provisional fuel reserves.
