            Today LOMO PLC produces biopsy gastroduodenoscopes of new sixth generation for examination and cure of upper sections of alimentary canal, biopsy colonoscopes for examination and cure of all sections of large intestine  and bronchoscopes for diagnostic and cure of trachea walls and mucous membrane of bronchial tubes. All these instruments differ qualitatively from preceding models by distal end fixation, gathering with imported instrumental channels and improved light system.

            LOMO PLC endoscopes have careful job to do in the medical institutions of Saint Petersburg. Unfortunately, the majority of them belongs to old, out-of-date models, because according to technical terms the exploitation time of such devices is just five years. A survey made by LOMO specialists together with State Company .Medtekhnika. showed that there were about 160 such items in the city subordination medical institutions. The situation paradox is that neither doctors nor the Health Committee have no possibility to write-off the old and not operating instruments, because they were bought with the means of city budget and belong to the Committee of State Property Management (Russian abbreviation is KUGI). There.s no possibility to order new equipment while the old ones are not written-off.

            LOMO decided to help the city to solve this problem. At present time necessary materials are being prepared for the creation of re-equipment program for the city medical institutions, for them to be supplied with new modern flexible endoscopes. Soon they will be delivered to the Health Committee of Saint Petersburg. According to this program LOMO buys 162 old not working instruments from KUGI and supplies the Health Committee with the same number of new ones with considerable discounts. And the Committee should deliver it to the medical establishments of the city. Herein the city budget economy will amount to more than 3,5 million roubles. The city.s opticians are ready to fulfil the program by the anniversary year.

            If the program takes place both parts will be in pocket: the city will renew its assets, the city.s hospitals and polyclinics will get new instruments, LOMO . an order. And the main is that the citizens could receive qualified medical help in proper time and safe their health.
