The official opening ceremony was attended by Lyudmila Putina, the wife of the President of the Russian Federation, Leonid Reiman, minister of Communications , Valery Yashin, chief executive officer of Svyazinvest, the CEO of Rostelecom Sergei Kuznetsov and top managers from a number f other telecom companies in Russia.

Rostelecom took an active part in the exhibition by making long-distance and international circuits available for the opening ceremony and the subsequent presentations held in conjunction with the "Electronic Russia" pavilion.

The Rostelecom stand displayed a wide range of services divided into two main areas: those designed for telecom operators, corporate clients and household users.

The company's telecom operator services include channel leasing, connection to synchronized path networks, an accredited test laboratory and Telegolosovanie, a value-added service network.

Household and corporate clients have the opportunity to use dong-distance and international telecom services, with additional options such as videoconferencing, STK and World Map calling cards.  Visitors were also introduced to the 800 Number, a new telecom solution available under the mega--regional merger process.

The exhibition is scheduled to run until October 25, 2002.
