Synthetic Isoprene Rubber Plant is one of the most energy-intensive production facilities at Nizhnekamskneftekhim Inc. With the view of reducing utilities and feedstock consumption, commissioning of a one-stage isoprene synthesis unit was launched here in 2000. The basis of the process was the technology developed by “Neftekhimstart” Ltd, Yaroslavl City . In 2001, the Unit was retrofitted basing on the process proposed by “Evrokhim- ??? -Trading” Ltd, with the Plant's engineers engaged. Application of that process enabled to reduce feed specific consumption by 20 kg/t isoprene, to considerably reduce heat energy consumption.
A commercial one-stage isoprene synthesis unit is currently being designed. In line with the program of one-stage synthesis process application, the Plant's capacity is planned to reach 160 000 TPA. What is more, that will allow for reduction of heat energy consumption by 30%, feed specific consumption – by 25%.
