The In-house Consulting program was launched at Severstal at the end of 2000. It’s the first of its kind in Russia. It’s aimed at incorporating international management practices and standards.
To achieve that, Alexei Mordashov noted that “it’s necessary to change the attitude of the company’s staff to their jobs by setting goals in their work, by negotiating with each employee and setting agreements with each one of them.”
One of the main lines of activities of the In-house Consulting program in 2002 was to increase the scope of the project. Today the In-house Consulting program covers 34 company units, with work groups in each shop to discuss and make suggestions to enhance the technology and the HR organization.
According to Alexei Pogozhev, production director, “ In the near perspective the In-house Consulting program will have to serve to improve work group performance, assure effective work in the shops, help develop and carry out innovations, work with suppliers and consumers”.
