The work over the book about the legendary general director of the company . M.P.Panfilov . was started at LOMO PLC.

            Long period of the enterprise history is connected with the name of Michael Panfilov. Having headed the state optical and mechanical factory (GOMZ) in the 50th, he brought in a big contribution into the creation of LOMO association in 1962.The first general director of the association was the head of the firm until the middle of 80th. During that time he became twice the Hero of the Socialist labour. It is mainly due to him the St. Petersburg optical enterprise has its leading position in the branch and world-wide reputation.

            On July 25, 2003 M.P.Panfilov would be 90 years old. For perpetuating the memory about the legendary general director, leaders of LOMO PLC decided to prepare and publish a 15 printed pages book about him. The edition will include memories of many employees of LOMO who personally knew M.P.Panfilov. The book is expected to release to the birthday of the hero of the edition on July 2003.
