Moscow, 5 December 2005. In the eleven months of 2005, the power plants of RAO "UES of Russia" increased generation of electricity year-on-year by 2% to 585.7 billion kWh from 597.2 billion kWh.
The thermal power plants of RAO "UES of Russia" generated 481.8 billion kWh, up 3.5% on the same period last year, whereas the hydropower plants produced 115.4 billion kWh, down 4% in year-on-year terms. Such changes in the electricity output by the Holding Company's hydropower plants were due to the lower water inflow levels at reservoirs of some HPPs during the period under review.
In January to November 2005, energy consumption throughout Russia* totalled 830.1 billion kWh, up 1.6% on the same period of 2004 (816.8 billion kWh).
In November 2005, the Holding Company's power plants generated 61.6 billion kWh of electricity, which represents an increase of 4.6% compared to November last year. During the month the thermal power plants generated 52.5 billion kWh of electricity, while the hydropower plants produced 9.1 billion kWh.
