Join meeting with gas-pumping equipment producers held

The Gazprom delegation led by Alexander Ananenkov, Deputy Chairman of the Company’s Management Committee continues its business trip to Saint Petersburg.

Today the delegation took part in the meeting dedicated to gas-pumping equipment production and supply by Saint Petersburg enterprises for executing Gazprom’s strategic gas transmission projects and reconstructing the gas transmission system. The meeting was moderated by Alexander Ananenkov.

Taking part in the meeting were Yaroslav Golko, Member of the Management Committee – Head of the Investment and Construction Department of Gazprom, heads and experts from the Gazprom Administration specialized subdivisions, heads and experts from Saint Petersburg largest machine-building enterprises – Roselectroprom Holding, Kompressor Komplex and other Russian machine-building enterprises producing gas-pumping units (GPU) and gas turbine plants.

Representatives from machine-building enterprises reported on the completion of Gazprom’s orders and the readiness of new GPU samples meeting international standards, as well as on the measures being taken to improve the product quality.

Alexander Ananenkov emphasized that Gazprom as a largest Russian investor was primarily oriented at domestic producers when implementing its strategic projects.

“Gazprom will always promote innovative development and application of cutting-edge technologies at the domestic enterprises. Russian machine builders should arrange within the shortest term possible the manufacture of products that will both compete with the foreign counterparts and surpass them in a variety of criteria as well. This also refers to gas-pumping equipment.

Gazprom places rigid quality demands on GPUs and takes great efforts jointly with leading domestic enterprises to increase their efficiency, reliability and cost effectiveness. We need that high-quality GPUs be produced by Russian plants. The best domestic GPUs will be maximally used when implementing the strategic gas transmission projects.

Thus, Gazprom’s large-scale orders inspire those Russian producers that practically demonstrate their ability to provide high-quality and competitive products and show readiness to retrofit production, invest in R&D and advanced technologies according to the Russian Government assignment on transition to the innovation-based development,” stated Alexander Ananenkov.

Previously, Gazprom’s delegation had visited Nevsky Zavod and Electropult Plant that manufacture GPUs including those installed at compressor stations of the Gryazovets – Vyborg gas pipeline and produce Ladoga-32 GPUs to be applied for construction of the Bovanenkovo – Ukhta gas transmission system.

Background:

More than 4,000 GPUs with a total capacity exceeding 47,500 MW are being operated at 281 compressor stations (in-field booster compressor stations and UGS compressor stations inclusive) of Gazprom’s gas transmission system. Under the Comprehensive Program for the reconstruction and technical reequipment of gas transmission facilities over 2007 to 2010, Gazprom is going to upgrade or replace over 500 GPUs.

For over fifteen years Gazprom has actively cooperated with national research institutes and machine-building companies and invested in joint activities and R&D to develop state-of-the-art gas-pumping equipment. These efforts enabled the Company not only to satisfy its needs in the said equipment, but also to support the development of prominent science and production organizations during the period of economic reforms.

Roselectroprom Holding is a machine-building association dealing with R&D activities and services rendering. It comprises such prominent enterprises as Nevsky Zavod and Electropult Plant.

Roselectroprom Holding produces the Ladoga-32 GPU notable for a high efficiency level (36 per cent), low emissions and long operating life as compared to other Russian industrial devices.
