TGC-9

July 2, 2007

Chaykovskaya HPP-18 – TGC-9 branch celebrates its 30-year anniversary

The youngest HPP in Perm region for thirty years reliably and regularly provides with electric and heat energy citizens and industrial enterprises of Chaykovsky region.

The construction of Chaykovskaya heat and power plant began in 1972. Originally the station was designed as part of the plant of synthetic rubber for its energy supply, heat supply of the town with partial delivery of electric power in the energy system of the Urals. At that time the name of the station was “HPP of Perm plant of synthetic rubber in the town of Chaykovsky with power of 170 megawatt”.

The generating station was set in operation in 1977 and a year later it was not a part of the plant and was transferred to Perm energy system. Chaykovskaya heat and power plant is the “youngest” HPP in Perm region.

The station is constantly developing. In 1981 the main line, by which they organized heat supply of the town from HPP, started working.

Chaykovskaya HPP-18 was designed and constructed as a carbonic station, but in 1984 it was reequipped to burning of natural gas that considerably improved ecological situation in the region.

Since 2005 the station has been working as a part of Territorial generating company No.9. Within TGC-9 bounds in the year 2007 at HPP-18 they finished realization of the large investment project – they set in operation a turboset with the attached turbine. The electric power of HPP increased on 50 megawatt and operating power – on 100 megawatt thanks to the possibility of using turboset No.3.

The uniqueness of this project consists in the fact that two turbosets (old and new ones) work as a single block. Thus, thanks to the fact that a new turbine uses the steam of turbine P-50, turboset No.3 is permitted to work constantly and with total load. Such turbines are not produced commercially, production and supply is realized only for Chaykovskaya HPP-18. Realization of this investment project is the first such experience in the Urals. Thanks to introduction of new energy equipment electric energy generation must increase approximately on 60%.

Today more than 400 people work at Chaykovskaya HPP-18, the station has been headed by Vyacheslav Mikhailovich Potapov during all years of its history.

Chaykovskaya HPP-18 generates more than 13% of all electric energy generated by TGC-9 stations in Perm region. For 30 years of work the station has generated 27,9 billion kilowatt-hour of electric energy and 39,3 million Gkal of heat energy.
