Moscow, 31 May 2005. Today, the delegation of RAO "UES of Russia" headed by the Deputy Chairman of the Management Board Leonid Drachevsky flies to Ottawa, Canada, to take part in the e7 Annual Summit*. During the Summit, which will take place on June 1st and 2nd, RAO "UES of Russia" will be granted full e7 membership.
RAO "UES of Russia" launched cooperation with e7 as associate partner in May 2004, when the Chairmen of the e7 electricity companies and the CEO of RAO "UES of Russia" Anatoly Chubais signed a partnership agreement. Under that document, RAO "UES of Russia" was given an opportunity of limited participation in e7 events. At this year's Summit, a supplement to the Agreement is expected to be signed, which will expand the rights of RAO "UES of Russia" and grant the Company full e7 membership status.
Anatoly Chubais received in May 2005 a letter inviting RAO "UES of Russia" to join e7 as a full member. The invitation was signed by Jake Epp, Board Chairman of Canada's Ontario Power Generation, which is presiding in e7 now.
* The e7 is an international non-profit organization (Forum). The full members of the e7 are: American Electric Power (USA), EDF (France), Enel (Italy), Hydro-Quebec (Canada), KANSAI (Japan), Ontario Power Generation (Canada), RWE (Germany), Scottish Power (UK) and TEPCO (Japan).
