Power Machines won a tender for Barh TPP (India)

Power Machines won a tender for construction of three power units with the capacity 660 MW each for Barh Thermal Power Plant (India) on the “turn-key basis". The Customer is the Indian National Thermal Power Corporation.

In accordance with the terms of the project Power Machines will carry out designing, manufacturing, supply, erection and commissioning of three power units for the turbine island of  Barh TPP. Equipment for each power unit will be manufactured at plants of Power Machines - Leningradsky Metallichesky Zavod – steam turbines, Electrosila – turbogenerators, Kaluga Turbine Works –feedwater turbine-driven pumps. Equipment is designed by the Design Departments of the plants for overcritical parameters and represents a promising standard in power engineering – 660 MW.

The project price amounts to 270 million US$. Financing will be carried out from the budget of the Customer - National Thermal Power Corporation.

In accordance with the terms of the project the first power unit will be put in operation in 46 months after awarding the Contract, the second and third - will be put in operation within next 6 and 12 months correspondingly.

The main competitors of Power Machines were well-known international company Siemens together with the local company BHEL. The project of Power Machines was specially developed for western size of equipment for thermal power plants and led to great interest from the part of Indian Customer.
 
A new Thermal Power Plant Barh located at Bihar (Indian state) will provide industrial enterprises and population of India with electric power.
 At the moment Power Machines and Indian National Thermal Power Corporation discuss technical and economical terms of the project, schedule of works, primary documents for signing the Contract. Formal contract signing is planned in March 2005.

In 2004 Power Machines and Indian National Thermal Power Corporation signed the similar contract on delivery of equipment for Sipat TPP.  The total price of the projects (Sipat TPP and Barh TPP) exceeds 500 million US$.
